Project:Roadmap

From Adélie Linux

A roadmap is the projected/estimated release schedule and planned features for each release. Adélie has roadmaps for each component of the distribution:

Adélie Linux

The distro-wide release roadmap is affected by all other components. This is a plan, and may fluctuate as requirements and situations change.

Each release has a detail page that you can access by clicking on the version number. This page is only an overview; the detail page will contain finer-grained detail on items and progress.

1.5

Overall, 1.5 is planned to be an incremental release.

This release serves mostly for fixing bugs in our tooling, changing easy-kernel configuration as needed, and bumping packages. Note that ABI stability with 1.0 is still desired and this is bugfix/security updates only. No new (strictly for the sake of new) package versions are allowed.

New ISOs will be spun with the newer versions included with 1.5. It will remain the 1.x branch so no git branches will be used. For all intents and purpose, 1.5 is simply a tagged commit in the 1.x branch to refresh our ISOs.

More architecture support, if feasible, would be great. This would keep all arches as being introduced in the 1.x branch so they have time to stabilise further for 2.0.

  • Arch
    • ARM
    • AArch64
    • MIPS
  • gcompat
    • LSB 5 Core
    • Support for Intel vTune.

2.0

Adélie Linux 2.0 is meant to be the first release that is truly ready for the general public. Horizon is planned to be rock solid and fully tested on all architectures and in many corner cases. Other features TBD.
